DESCRIPTION:\nThree Pathways to Sustainable Finance\n \nLloyd Kurtz will discuss the evolution of sustainable finance through three distinctive pathways:  Exclusion, Integration, and Impact.  He’ll explain how each of these pathways developed, and how they now have converged to define modern practice.  He’ll also present some of the fiduciary and legal aspects of each approach, as well as historical investment performance.\n \nLloyd joins us from Montecito Bank & Trust, where he serves as a Senior Portfolio Manager.  He joined MB&T in 2023 following a 19-year career in sustainable investment at Wells Fargo.  Lloyd is also a visiting scholar at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management, and teaches a course in sustainable finance in the Master’s program at the University of Muenster, Germany.\n \nLloyd has over 30 years of experience in investment management, with experience as a research analyst, portfolio manager, and investment team leader. He is a nationally recognized expert in sustainable and responsible investing, and helped develop the Domini Social Index, the first broad-based responsible investment benchmark in the U.S. Lloyd is passionate about investing, client communication and service.\n \n• B.A. in English and Psychology, Vassar College\n • Master’s in Business Administration with highest distinction, Babson College\n • Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA®\n • Visiting Scholar at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he plays a leading role in the Moskowitz Prize for sustainable investment research\n • Founding member of the United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative\n • Member of the PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment) Academic Network Advisory Committee\n • Contributing Editor for the Journal of Impact and ESG Investing\n • Served on the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board\n • Received the SRI Service Award for his contributions to the field of responsible investment\n
