Accumulation of wealth has far-reaching macroeconomic impacts that affect not only the holders of wealth but also everyone else in a particular economy. This stems from the fact that most often, capital accumulation involves both a net addition and a redistribution of wealth.\n \nThe Ventura County Community Foundation recognized the need to better understand the changing behaviors and patterns of charitable giving and the transfer of wealth throughout the nation as well as in our own community. We are excited to share the recent report published in Spring 2021 created by Jamshid Damooei, PhD of California Lutheran University entitled, “Transfer of Wealth in Ventura County: Using the Existing and the Emerging Philanthropic Giving to Strengthen the Quality of Life in Ventura County for the Next Fifty Years.”\n \nIn addition, this presentation will cover the vital role estate planning professionals play in guaranteeing that our community does not miss this historic opportunity to strengthen our region and to ensure that our residents have the most impact possible through their generosity.\n \n______________________________________________________________________________________________\n \nAbout Vanessa Bechtel, President & CEO of Ventura County Community Foundation\n \nVanessa Bechtel, AIFA, serves as President and CEO of the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF), last year raising over $28 million from over 10,000 generous donors to help serve our community during this very challenging time.  The foundation was also very active in the 2020 Census and promoting an accurate count in Ventura County, which ended in the 95th percentile for an accurate self-response nationwide; Bechtel served as Co-Chair of the multi-year effort. \n \nPrior to her work with VCCF, Bechtel served as executive director of the Santa Barbara City College Foundation.  She co-founded Monarch Wealth Strategies in 2008 and was honored as Business Woman of the Year by the Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce in 2010.  Bechtel was recognized as Nonprofit Leader of the Year by the Ventura County Leadership Academy in 2019 and Humanitarian of the Year by the Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation with her spouse, Jim.  In December 2020, Bechtel was named Woman of the Year for 2020 by both the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce and the 19th Senatorial District and 37th Assembly District. \n \nBechtel graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a degree in Law and Society. In 2016, she received her master’s degree from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.  She also received her master’s certificate from the International Institute for the Sociology of Law in Onati, Spain in 2002.\n \nIn her spare time, Bechtel enjoys hiking, fishing, practicing the piano and violin, and is an avid reader. \n
